Today, Upflex strengthened our footprint in the fast-growing European market, completing our acquisition of UK on-demand workspace aggregator WorkClub and announcing our new European HQ in London.

Following our June 2021 expansion to Asia with Upflex India, Upflex is pleased to announce the acquisition of WorkClub. This move marks the creation of Upflex EMEA, our new European HQ in London, furthering broadening our presence in the fast-growing European hybrid work market.

Nick Donnelly, founder and CEO of WorkClub will step into a role as VP of Workplace Solutions EMEA, Upflex. He said flexible working has “surged in the UK since the pandemic,” and that Upflex’s tech and WorkClub’s deep market expertise and relationships are the perfect recipe for growth.

“Our experience in the UK flex market, combined with Upflex’s wider industry expertise will help us serve a larger audience across the UK and Europe,” Donnelly said.

Founded in 2017, WorkClub is a well-established player in the UK flexible and hybrid work sector. Its team and network of locations will be fully integrated into the Upflex platform. With WorkClub, our network’s offerings will be extended to 500 locations across key UK regions, totaling 400,000 square feet of flexible, on-demand office space across London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as strategic locations in suburban areas nationwide.

Christophe Garnier, co-founder and CEO of Upflex, said Upflex is on track to replicate its strong track record—established in U.S., Europe and APAC regions—in the UK, where he and other Upflex leadership see significant growth potential.

“The fast-growing demand and adoption of hybrid working across the UK and Europe makes London the perfect fit for our European head office,” Garnier said. “By joining forces with WorkClub, not only do we adopt a grade-A team for this key market, but we can also address our pan-European demand a lot faster.”

The move follows Upflex’s summer 2021 Asian expansion with Upflex India. “As global occupiers seek hybrid and hubquarter solutions around the world, the Upflex team knows well that the key to our success—and to rising to meet the needs of clients around the world, from start-ups to global enterprises—is a comprehensive international presence,” Garnier added. “The launch of Upflex EMEA is a great milestone in our global expansion.”

The combined business will offer access across a wider choice of locations and flexible curated office options to medium and large enterprise organizations looking to scale, while facilitating hybrid working and supporting talent retention. The global flexible office market is set to reach $107 billion by 2026.
